Lovable vs Bolt, and what your app still needs after launch

Lovable and Bolt both build a working app or site from a prompt and publish it for you, on an address of their own. Lovable meters one credit balance across building, hosting and your app’s AI, and syncs your code to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket on every plan. Bolt meters tokens, spent mostly on keeping the AI in sync with your project as it grows. It syncs with GitHub too, and shows traffic analytics only on its paid plans. Neither comes with a support chat for your visitors. The third column is Deacon, an AI customer support agent that answers your visitors from your own docs, with website analytics from the same script. It has a free plan with no card.

How Lovable and Bolt charge you

Lovable spends one balance on building, hosting and your app’s AI

Lovable’s credits pay for building, for hosting your app and its built-in backend, Lovable Cloud, and for the AI features your live app runs. By Lovable’s own examples, making a button grey costs about half a credit and adding sign-in about 1.2. The free plan gives you 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits a month. Pro is $25 a month, or $21 billed yearly, for 100 credits, and unused monthly credits roll over until 2 months after they were issued.

Bolt meters by tokens, and a bigger project spends more of them

Bolt’s own pricing page says most of your tokens go on “syncing your project’s file system to the AI”, so “the larger the project, the more tokens used per message”. The free plan gives you 1M tokens a month, at most 300,000 a day, and puts Bolt branding on your site. Pro is $25 a month, or $18 billed yearly, starting at 10M tokens with no daily limit, and removes the branding. Unused tokens roll over for one more month while you stay subscribed, so they’re good for up to two months in total. Teams is $30 a member a month, or $27 billed yearly.

Underneath sit the plans. Lovable’s Pro starts at $25 a month, or $21 billed yearly, for 100 credits, rising with the credits you buy, up to 10,000 credits for $2,250 a month. Bolt’s Pro is $25 a month for 10M tokens, with no daily cap, and Teams is $30 a member a month. Billed yearly, they come to $18 and $27 a month, which is where Bolt’s “save up to 28%” comes from.

What each gives you after launch

Lovable watches the app it hosts, for up to 90 days

Lovable’s analytics starts the moment you publish, with nothing to set up. It shows visits, page views, views per visit, visit duration and bounce rate, by source, page, device and country, over ranges up to the last 90 days. It doesn’t read UTM tags, and Lovable’s docs point you to PostHog for campaigns or funnels. From Pro, project monitoring, still in beta, checks your app on a schedule and emails you the important problems.

Bolt watches the site it hosts on paid plans, for up to 30 days

Bolt’s docs say a site published to Bolt Hosting on a paid plan gets built-in analytics, with unique visitors, page views, top pages, bandwidth, traffic sources, visitor locations and the missing pages people tried to reach. You can look back up to 30 days, and the figures include crawlers and bots, with no way yet to separate them from real visitors. For anything more, Bolt’s docs point you to adding a tool such as Google Analytics yourself.

So once your app is live, both show you its traffic, Lovable for up to 90 days from the moment you publish and Bolt for up to 30 on a paid plan. Neither reads funnels, and neither answers a question for your visitors. Those questions are where Deacon comes in.

Choosing between Lovable and Bolt

Pick Lovable if you want your code in GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, synced both ways on every plan, the free one included, and traffic figures from the moment you publish, looking back up to 90 days.

Pick Bolt if you’d rather be metered by tokens and pay less for them by the year. Billed yearly, its Pro is $18 a month, against $21 for Lovable’s, and Bolt’s docs say you don’t need a separate hosting account.

Neither tells you what your visitors are asking once the app is live. That’s the job Deacon does on top of whichever one you pick.

Where Deacon fits once your app is live

Once people start using your app, the same few questions come in again and again, and each one takes you away from building. A chatbot Lovable builds spends your credits, and one you prompt Bolt to build spends tokens, more of them per message as the project grows. Either way it’s yours to look after. The same script runs your website analytics, with visitors, sources, goals, funnels and the JavaScript errors people hit, and an all-time view, which reads further back than Bolt’s 30 days or Lovable’s 90.

It takes one script tag on either builder. Paste it into Lovable’s project chat and ask it to place it, and Deacon and Lovable has every step. On Bolt, prompt it to add the tag just before the closing body tag, the same way you’d ask for any other change, and Deacon and Bolt has the details.

Both build and host a working app from a chat, so the choice comes down to what each meters and what’s built around it. Neither meter converts cleanly into the other, so weigh what a month of your own building looks like.

No, on either. A free Lovable app lives on a lovable.app address and a free Bolt site on bolt.host. Lovable connects your own domain from Pro, at $25 a month or $21 billed yearly, and Bolt from Pro, at $25 a month or $18 billed yearly, which also adds private sites. Deacon works on any of these addresses, because you list the ones it should run on.

Both do. Lovable’s Git sync keeps your project in your own GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket repository in both directions, on every plan, the free one included, though editing the code inside Lovable and downloading it as a zip need a paid plan. Bolt’s GitHub integration commits your changes as you build and pulls in changes made in GitHub every 30 seconds, so you can move between the two.

On Lovable, yes. A chatbot it builds with its AI connector is billed from your general credits, first from 4 free AI credits a month, and it stops working at zero. What a Lovable chatbot costs to run goes through that side in detail. Bolt’s pricing page lists no AI connector of its own, so a support chat on Bolt is something you’d prompt it to build from scratch, and it would spend tokens the same way any other feature does. Deacon’s answers come from its own plan on either and spend none of your builder’s credits or tokens.

Build your app, for a start. Deacon isn’t an app builder. It’s a chat widget and an analytics script you add to an app you’ve built. It takes no actions in your app, so it won’t update a record or book something for a visitor, and it declines questions about a visitor’s own account or data.
