Lovable vs Claude Code, and what your app still needs after launch

Lovable and Claude Code both write code from a prompt, for very different founders. Lovable describes itself for people who don’t code at all: it builds the whole app and hosts it for you. Claude Code is a coding agent that works in a codebase you already have, in your terminal, an IDE, the desktop app or the browser, and it comes bundled with Claude’s paid plans rather than sold on its own. Neither comes with a chat for your visitors. The third column is Deacon, an AI customer support agent that answers your visitors from your own docs, with website analytics from the same script. It has a free plan with no card.

How Lovable and Claude Code charge you

Lovable spends one balance on building, hosting and your app’s AI

Lovable’s credits pay for building, for hosting your app and its built-in backend, Lovable Cloud, and for the AI features your live app runs. By Lovable’s own examples, making a button grey costs about half a credit and adding sign-in about 1.2. The free plan gives you 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits a month. Pro is $25 a month, or $21 billed yearly, for 100 credits, and Business is $50, or $42 billed yearly, for the same 100 credits plus single sign-on and team controls.

Claude Code shares a pool with everything else you do in Claude

claude.com’s own pricing page says Claude Code “is included in all paid plans. It shares the same usage limits as the rest of your plan, so your work in the terminal and your chats draw from one pool.” The free plan leaves it out entirely. Claude Pro is $20 a month, or $17 billed yearly as $200 up front, and claude.com calls it right for short coding sprints in small codebases. Max starts at $100 a month for 5 times Pro’s usage, or $200 for 20 times. For a heavy coding session past your plan’s pool, you can switch to pay-as-you-go API credits through a Console account instead of upgrading.

The figures in these cards are from lovable.dev/pricing, Lovable’s credits guide and claude.com/pricing, read on 25 September 2026. Lovable pricing goes through every Lovable plan and its credits in more detail.

Underneath sit the plans. Lovable’s Pro starts at $25 a month, or $21 billed yearly, for 100 credits, rising with the credits you buy, up to 10,000 credits for $2,250 a month. On Claude’s side, a Team Standard seat is $25 a month, or $20 billed yearly, and a Premium seat, with more usage again, is $125 a month or $100 billed yearly. None of these prices are for Claude Code by itself. It’s a way of using a subscription you might already have for Claude’s chat, so the real cost depends on how much of that pool your coding sessions use up.

Lovable, Claude Code and Deacon, row by row

How you build

Lovable
Describe the app in the project chat. Lovable writes the code and hosts it, on Lovable Cloud or your own Supabase
Claude Code
It reads your codebase, edits files and runs commands from your terminal, an IDE, the desktop app or the browser, in a project you already have
Deacon
Nothing to build. One script tag on an app made with either

Free plan

Lovable
5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits a month
Claude Code
None. It comes with Claude’s paid plans, and the free plan leaves it out
Deacon
50 answers a month on one seat, with every feature, no card and no end date

Cheapest paid plan

Lovable
Pro, $25 a month billed monthly, or $21 a month billed yearly, for 100 credits
Claude Code
Comes with Claude Pro, $20 a month billed monthly, or $17 a month billed yearly as $200 up front
Deacon
Starter, $50 a month, or $40 a month billed yearly, for 1,000 answers on three seats

What you’re paying for

Lovable
One credit balance for building, for hosting with Cloud and for the AI features your live app runs
Claude Code
One usage pool shared with your Claude chats and every other Claude product. There’s no separate price just for coding
Deacon
There are no credits. Each reply Deacon writes on your live site is one answer, and chats in the Playground never count

Bigger tiers

Lovable
Business from $50 a month, or $42 billed yearly, for the same 100 credits, plus single sign-on and team controls
Claude Code
Max gives 5 times Pro’s usage from $100 a month, or 20 times from $200. A Team Standard seat is $25 a month, or $20 billed yearly
Deacon
Move to a bigger plan when you choose to. No plan upgrades itself

Where the code ends up

Lovable
On Lovable’s infrastructure, synced both ways to your own GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket repository on every plan
Claude Code
Wherever your project already lives. It edits files in your own repository and hosts nothing
Deacon
Deacon adds one script tag and changes nothing else in your code

Where the app lives

Lovable
A lovable.app address on every plan, and your own domain from Pro
Claude Code
Nowhere of its own, since it never publishes or hosts what it changes
Deacon
Any address you list, so either builder’s address or one you host yourself

When usage runs out

Lovable
Building stops, AI features in your live app stop working, and the built-in backend pauses shortly after
Claude Code
You can wait for the pool to reset, upgrade your plan, or switch to pay-as-you-go API credits through a Console account for heavy sessions
Deacon
Nothing more is billed. Visitors get a short reply saying Deacon can’t look into that one right now, and are asked for their email

A chat for your visitors

Lovable
A chatbot Lovable builds for you with its AI connector, paid from your credits and looked after by you
Claude Code
None built in. You’d write one yourself and pay for its calls at API rates through a Console account
Deacon
Answers from your own docs in seconds, says so when it doesn’t know, and asks for the visitor’s email

Traffic analytics

Lovable
Visitors, page views, bounce rate, sources, pages, devices and countries, over ranges up to 90 days
Claude Code
None. It’s a coding agent, not a hosting platform
Deacon
Visitors, sources, goals, funnels and JavaScript errors, from the widget’s own script, with an all-time view

Lovable’s prices come from lovable.dev/pricing and its plans guide, and Claude’s from claude.com/pricing, all read on 25 September 2026. What Claude Code does day to day is from its own docs.

What each gives you after launch

Lovable watches the app it hosts, for up to 90 days

Lovable’s analytics starts the moment you publish, with nothing to set up. It shows visitors, page views, views per visit, visit duration and bounce rate, by source, page, device and country, over ranges up to the last 90 days. It doesn’t read UTM tags, and Lovable’s docs point you to PostHog for campaigns or funnels. From Pro, project monitoring, still in beta, checks your app on a schedule and emails you the important problems.

Claude Code has nothing left to watch once you ship

Claude Code reads your codebase, edits files and runs commands, and code.claude.com says it asks for permission before changing files or running commands. What it doesn’t do is publish or host the result. Once your app is live somewhere else, Claude Code has no view of it: no analytics, no error tracking and no record of what a visitor hit, because it was never running the app in the first place.

These cards come from Lovable’s guide to project analytics and Claude Code’s docs, read on 25 September 2026.

So the gap after launch looks different on each side. Lovable leaves you with no support chat and no way to read campaigns or funnels. Claude Code leaves you with nothing at all watching the live app, because it was never the thing running it. Either way, nobody answers your visitors unless you build something for it, and neither sums up what they wanted to ask.

Choosing between Lovable and Claude Code

Pick Lovable if you want the shortest path from an idea to a live app, with no editor, host or repository to set up first. It publishes to a lovable.app address from the first prompt, and Git sync keeps a copy of the code in your own repository on every plan, the free one included.

Pick Claude Code if you already have a project and want an agent that plans, writes and tests changes across it from your terminal, an IDE, the desktop app or the browser. It needs a paid Claude plan, and it draws on the same usage as your Claude chats, so it suits you best if you’re already paying for Claude or want one subscription for both.

Plenty of founders use both: Lovable to get something live fast, and Claude Code once the app is complex enough that they want an agent working alongside them in the code.

Where Deacon fits once your app is live

Once people start using your app, the same few questions come in again and again, and each one takes you away from building. Deacon answers them on your app in seconds, at any hour, from your own docs and in the visitor’s language, with no flows to build. When your docs don’t cover something, it says it doesn’t know rather than make an answer up, and asks for the visitor’s email. You’re emailed when they leave one or ask for a person, and your reply from Deacon’s dashboard lands in their chat while it’s still open.

Deacon answers from its own allowance, so it spends none of your Lovable credits and none of the usage pool Claude Code shares with your chats. Each answer you write makes it better. A question your docs missed gets an Answer this button, and what you write becomes part of what Deacon knows.

You also see what people need. Every conversation is saved and searchable by what visitors asked, and Topics group the questions, count the people behind each one and label most of them, for example as a bug report, a feature ask or a how-to. The same script runs your website analytics, with visitors, sources, goals, funnels and the JavaScript errors people hit, and an all-time view, which reads further back than Lovable’s 90-day range and, unlike Claude Code, exists at all once your app ships.

It takes one script tag on an app built with either. On Lovable, paste the tag into the project chat and ask it to place it, and Deacon and Lovable has every step. Claude Code can do the same job directly: on Deacon’s Install page, Copy the prompt for your agent gives it Deacon’s install guide for agents, which it reads, then adds the snippet and checks it’s live, the same way it would carry out any other task you hand it.

What founders ask about Lovable and Claude Code

Start with Lovable if you have no codebase yet and want a working app without opening an editor. Claude Code suits you once you have a project, whether Lovable built it or you did, and want an agent that works in your terminal, IDE, desktop app or browser to add features and fix bugs. The best vibe coding tools sets out the wider field, coding agents included.

Their cheapest paid prices are close. Lovable’s Pro is $25 a month, or $21 billed yearly, for a balance that covers building, hosting and your app’s AI. Claude Code comes with Claude Pro, $20 a month, or $17 billed yearly as $200 up front, and that same subscription also covers your Claude chats and every other Claude product, not coding alone. Neither price buys you the same thing twice, so compare what you’d actually use.

No. Claude’s free plan leaves Claude Code out entirely, unlike Cursor or Codex, which both keep a limited free way in. The cheapest way to use it is Claude Pro, and Claude Code then draws on the same usage pool as your chats and every other Claude product.

Yes, it can start a project from nothing and write every file, since it reads and changes a whole codebase. The difference is what happens after. Lovable publishes the result to a lovable.app address as part of the same chat. Claude Code leaves the code in your project, and getting it hosted, choosing a domain and keeping it running are steps you take yourself.

Yes, though Lovable says so on different plans. Lovable’s Git sync keeps your project in your own GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket repository in both directions, on every plan, the free one included, though editing the code inside Lovable and downloading it as a zip need a paid plan. Claude Code runs against a project already in your own repository, so there’s no separate step to get the code out.

Yes. A chatbot Lovable builds for you with its AI connector is billed from your general credits, first from 4 free AI credits a month, and it stops working at zero. What a Lovable chatbot costs to run goes through it in detail. Claude Code has no equivalent, because it doesn’t run or host a live app for a chatbot to sit on.

Build and change your app, for a start. Deacon isn’t a builder or a coding agent. It’s a chat widget and an analytics script you add to an app you’ve already made. It takes no actions in your app and declines questions about a visitor’s own account or data. If you want a chat that acts on a signed-in user’s behalf, that’s something to build with Lovable or Claude Code, and let Deacon answer everyone else’s questions from your docs.
