FEATURES
Everything Deacon does, followed through one customer question
Sam asks Acme something its documentation doesn’t cover. Follow that question from the widget to the dashboard and back, and you’ll meet the main features at the point where they matter.
Free plan, no card. Paid plans from $40 a month, billed yearly.

Tuesday, 09:14 · Sam opens the chat on Acme’s pricing page
A widget that fits your site
Set the colours, the corner radius, the position and the greeting against a live preview, and publish when it looks right. You can hide the button and open Deacon from your own. On a phone it opens as a full-width sheet.
Sam clicks Help on Acme’s pricing page and the widget opens over it.
- Colours, corners, position and greeting
- A draft you publish or revert
- Opens from your own button if you prefer

Tuesday, 09:14 · Deacon looks in what Acme taught it
Honest answers, with the page they came from
Deacon writes each answer from the passages it found in your content for that question. An answer taken from a page on your site links to the page. When nothing covers the question, it says so and asks for an email address.
Most questions end here. Sam’s doesn’t, because Acme’s docs never mention Okta.
- Reads your website, files, pasted text and written answers
- Replies in the language the visitor wrote in
- Asks one question back when a question is vague

Tuesday, 09:17 to 09:26 · you get an email, and reply in the chat
Human handoff, with your reply in the chat
When Deacon can’t answer, or the visitor asks for a person, it asks for their email. The team’s owners get a message three minutes after the visitor leaves an address or asks for a person. Reply from the dashboard and, if the visitor still has the chat open, your words appear there under your first name. If they have gone and left an address, the reply reaches them by email.
Sam still had the widget open, so your reply landed in the chat. Deacon stayed quiet until you handed back.
- No email if you’ve already opened the conversation
- Messages to a teammate never count as answers
- Deacon answers again when you hand back

Tuesday, 09:30 · you write the answer once
Answer once, and see the proof
Every question your content couldn’t answer has an Answer this button. Write the answer and Deacon saves it, asks itself the question again and shows you the reply it now gives. Then it re-checks similar open questions and tells you how many of them your answer also covers.
Two sentences closed Sam’s question and three others. On Wednesday another visitor asked about Okta, and nobody was emailed.
- Saved as a source Deacon answers from
- Its new reply shown to you as proof
- Similar open questions re-checked

Try it on your own documentation
Add your site or a few files and ask the questions your customers ask. The free plan has 50 answers a month and needs no card.
Any day · every word is on record
Every conversation on record
Read exactly what was said on your behalf. Each conversation shows the source an answer came from, the page the visitor was on and whether they have chatted before. Details your app passes in, such as the visitor’s plan, sit beside it.
Sam’s conversation is filed under Unanswered until you write the answer.
- Filters for Unanswered, Wants a person and Answered
- Search what visitors asked
- Any conversation translated into your language

The end of the month · it shows up as a topic
Topics, grouped for you
Deacon groups the questions people ask into topics. Most get a type, such as a how-to, a feature request, a pricing question or a bug report. A topic is listed once two people have asked, with how many people and when it last came up.
Twenty-seven people have asked Acme about single sign-on. It is third on the list when you plan what to build.
- Open a topic to read the visitors’ own words
- Mark it done when you’ve dealt with it
- Messages, people and the share answered, against the period before

Thursday · Sam signs up
Website analytics and goals, from the same script
The script that runs the widget also counts visitors, pages, sources, devices and countries. Name the goals that matter to you, such as a sign-up, and see how many visitors reach each one and which sources lead to your main goal. A short list called Worth knowing tells you what stands out.
Acme tagged its sign-up button as a goal, so Sam’s sign-up is counted with the rest. Deacon counts visitors and never identifies companies.
- Goals sent by a line of code, an attribute or a class
- Funnels built from your goals
- No second script to install
