Freshchat is the live chat and messaging tool from Freshworks, the company behind Freshdesk. It puts a chat widget on your website and apps, with a shared inbox behind it where your team answers. Freshchat pricing is per agent. The Free plan takes up to 10 agents. Growth is $19 an agent a month billed yearly, or $23 month to month, Pro is $49 or $59, and Enterprise is $79 or $95. Freddy AI Agent, the AI that answers customers for you, starts on Growth with 500 sessions once per account, then costs $49 for each 100. We read every figure on the vendors’ own pages on 25 September 2026, in US dollars.

Deacon is ours, and it answers the chat rather than giving you somewhere to answer it. It’s an AI customer support agent for startups where a founder still handles support. It replies to your customers in seconds from your own docs, and shows you what they’re stuck on and what they want next. There’s a free plan, and it needs no card.

Freshchat pricing plans

Freshchat has one free plan and three paid ones, each priced per agent. Every plan includes the chat widget for your website and mobile apps, a shared inbox, a connected email inbox, and roles and permissions. The plan sets the price of each seat, the channels and team features you get, and whether the AI is there at all.

The features are from the plan cards and the comparison table on Freshworks’ pricing page. The page opens on yearly billing, and the monthly prices sit behind its Monthly switch. The switch says you save 20% by paying yearly. By our sums it’s about 17% on every paid plan, or $228 a year for a Growth agent against $276 month to month.

The FAQ on the same page sets the terms. Every account starts on a 14-day trial of Enterprise. When it ends, you choose a plan and pay by card, or the account is suspended. An upgrade applies at once, while a downgrade or a cancellation waits for the end of your term, and there’s no cancellation fee. Freshworks takes Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express, but not PayPal.

What Freshchat’s free plan includes

Freshchat Free is live chat for a team that answers every chat itself. It takes up to 10 agents, with the chat widget on your website and mobile apps, the shared inbox, a connected email inbox, and roles and permissions.

There’s no AI on it. Freddy AI Agent starts on Growth, and Freshworks’ sessions FAQ gives Free no complimentary sessions. The widget keeps Freshworks’ branding, too. Freshworks’ widget article says removing it is only for paid plans, and so are more than one widget and FAQs inside the widget. So on Free, a visitor gets an answer when one of your agents is there to type it. Chatbot vs live chat sets out what that means for the hours nobody is.

Freddy AI pricing on Freshchat

Freddy AI comes in two parts on Freshchat. Freddy AI Agent answers your customers and is billed by the session. Freddy AI Copilot helps your agents and is billed per agent.

Freddy AI Agent, billed by the session

Freddy AI Agent comes with Growth, Pro and Enterprise, and Freshworks says its AI agents deflect up to 86% of customer requests. Those plans include 500 free sessions to try it, once per account, by the pricing page’s FAQ. After that, sessions come in packs of 100 at $49 a pack, at the same price on any billing cycle.

A session is one visitor’s time with the AI, not a result. On chat, everything a visitor says to the AI within 24 hours of starting counts as one session, whether or not the AI settles the question. A visitor who starts at 11:59 PM stays in that session until 11:58 PM the next day. Freshworks’ sessions FAQ, which covers Freshchat, sets out the rest of the rules.

  • Buying a pack takes away what’s left of the free 500. The FAQ says complimentary sessions are replaced by the ones you buy, so use them up first.
  • Chatbots spend sessions too. The same packs pay for Freddy AI agents and for chatbots, the structured flows you build yourself.
  • Previewing an AI agent or a chatbot while you build it uses sessions, published or not.
  • A pack lasts for your billing cycle. Unused sessions don’t carry over, and a pack renews with each cycle until you reduce it, which takes effect from the next one.
  • You get a notification at 70%, 80%, 90% and 100% of your sessions. At 100%, the AI stops answering and chats go to your live agents. On a self-service widget it simply stops, with no handover.
  • Auto-recharge adds a pack when your balance falls below 50 sessions. Only customers who pay online can switch it on.

AI help desks sets out how other tools bill their AI, by resolution, outcome or credit.

Freddy AI Copilot, billed per agent

Freddy AI Copilot is $29 an agent a month billed yearly, or $35 monthly, as an add-on on Pro and Enterprise. It isn’t offered on Growth. You can buy it for as many agents as you choose rather than the whole team, and it can’t go on a day pass. Freshworks describes it as a coach for your agents that sums up issues, suggests next steps, takes on repetitive tasks and improves the tone of their replies.

Fin on Freshchat

You can put another company’s AI on Freshchat instead. Fin, the AI agent from the company behind Intercom, connects to Freshchat for $49 a month with 50 resolutions, then $0.99 for each resolution after that, with no seats. Fin counts a resolution when it settles a customer’s question without a teammate stepping in.

Fin changes the widget. On Freshchat, your customers chat with Fin in the Intercom Messenger, and Fin hands a conversation it can’t help with to a Freshchat agent group, history and all, by Fin’s help centre. Your team keeps answering in Freshchat.

By our sums, 100 resolutions a month cost $98.50 on Fin, against $49 for 100 Freddy sessions. They count different things, though. Fin charges when it resolves a question, and Freddy charges for every session, resolved or not.

Freshchat or Freshdesk Omni

Freshworks sells chat on its own as Freshchat, and chat with a helpdesk as Freshdesk Omni. Its Freshchat page invites you to upgrade to Omni for advanced ticketing, knowledge bases and more. Freshworks’ Omni guide describes Omni as email, web chat, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram in one inbox, where every message becomes a ticket, with a customer portal and a knowledge base.

An agent, billed monthly
$35

Pro

An agent, billed monthly

Enterprise

An agent, billed monthly

Omni comes with the same 500 free Freddy AI Agent sessions once and the same $49 packs, and its day passes cost $5, $10 and $15 by plan. An Omni Growth agent costs $10 a month more than a Freshchat Growth agent on yearly billing, and $12 more on monthly billing. Fin’s help centre calls Omni a bundle, and says Freshdesk and Freshchat stay separate products inside it, with separate APIs and credentials.

So Freshchat on its own is the cheaper way to buy chat and messaging from Freshworks. Omni is for a team that also wants email turned into tickets and a help centre for customers.

What Freshchat costs a small team

These are our sums from Freshworks’ pricing pages, a month on yearly billing. The AI column adds one pack of 100 Freddy AI Agent sessions, $49, as a month would once the free 500 are used. None include day passes, campaigns, phone or tax.

Monthly billing adds $4 an agent on Growth, $10 on Pro and $6 on Omni Growth, and $6 on each Copilot licence. Sessions cost the same either way. So two agents on Growth with 100 sessions come to $95 a month on monthly billing, against $87 billed yearly.

For a small team, the AI soon costs more than the seats. On Growth, 100 sessions a month cost more than two agents. At that rate the free 500 last about five months, and then the AI stops until you buy a pack or switch on auto-recharge. Two people who answer every chat themselves can stay on Free and pay nothing, with no AI and Freshworks’ branding on the widget.

Deacon, for a founder who wants the chat answered

Freshchat is priced for a team that answers chats, with a seat for each agent and packs of sessions for the AI. Early on, that team is usually a founder with the inbox open in a spare tab. Deacon is built for that founder. It answers the chat for you and brings you only the conversations that need a person.

You add one script tag and point Deacon at your docs, and its website chat widget answers your customers in seconds, at any hour and in their language. There are no flows to build first. When your content doesn’t cover a question, Deacon says it doesn’t know instead of guessing, and asks for the visitor’s email. If they leave it or ask for a person, you get an email. Your reply from Deacon’s dashboard appears in their chat while it’s open, under your first name and your company’s.

Each question your docs missed waits with an Answer this button. Every answer you write becomes part of what Deacon knows, so the more you answer, the less it needs you. Topics group the questions people ask, count the people asking and label most of them as a feature ask, a bug report, a how-to and so on, so you can see what to fix and what to build next. That’s Deacon’s chatbot analytics, and it’s on every plan.

There are no packs to top up. You can try Deacon in the Playground as often as you like, because chats there are never counted. Every feature is on every plan. Free is 50 answers a month and 1 seat, with no card and no end date. Starter is $50 a month, or $40 a month billed yearly, for 1,000 answers a month and 3 seats. Deacon’s Growth plan is $150 a month, or $120 a month billed yearly, for 4,000 answers a month and 10 seats. Nothing is billed past your plan’s answers, no plan upgrades itself, and there’s no “powered by” line on any plan.

Questions about Freshchat pricing

Is Freshchat free?

Yes, for up to 10 agents on live chat you answer yourselves. Free has the chat widget, a shared inbox and a connected email inbox, with no Freddy AI Agent and Freshworks’ branding on the widget. The AI starts on Growth, at $19 an agent a month billed yearly, or $23 monthly.

How much does Freshchat cost for one agent?

Growth is $19 a month billed yearly, or $23 monthly. Freddy AI Agent’s first 500 sessions are free once, and after that 100 sessions a month add $49, so one agent with the AI comes to $68 a month billed yearly, by our sums. Pro is $49 or $59 an agent, and Copilot adds $29 or $35.

What counts as a Freddy AI Agent session?

Everything one visitor says to the AI, or to a chatbot, within 24 hours of starting. It counts whether or not the AI solved anything, and previewing a bot while you build it counts too. Sessions come in packs of 100 for $49, and a pack expires at the end of your billing cycle.

Can I pay for Freshchat monthly?

Yes. Growth is $23 an agent a month on monthly billing, Pro $59 and Enterprise $95. Freshworks also bills quarterly and yearly. Its pricing page says yearly billing saves 20%, and by our sums it saves about 17%. There’s no cancellation fee, but a cancellation or a downgrade takes effect at the end of your term.

Is Freshchat part of Freshdesk?

No. Both are Freshworks products, sold and priced apart. Freshdesk Omni puts the two together, from $29 an agent a month billed yearly, and Fin’s help centre says even there they keep separate APIs and credentials. Zendesk vs Freshdesk sets Freshworks’ helpdesk against its closest rival.

Can Deacon replace Freshchat for a small team?

If most of your chats are questions your docs already answer, yes. Deacon answers them on your site and brings you the conversations that need a person, and everyone on your plan’s seats can read and reply to every conversation. It isn’t a live chat inbox for a support desk, though. It has no routing, assignment or rota, no tickets, and no WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS or email channel. It never starts a conversation, so there are no campaigns, and it always declines questions about a visitor’s own account. Freshchat alternatives compares seven other tools.
