Fin AI pricing and what counts as an outcome
How Fin counts a $0.99 outcome, what it costs on Intercom, Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot and Freshdesk, and three months of Fin priced, read 23 September 2026.
Published
Fin AI pricing is $0.99 an outcome, charged at most once a conversation. In support, an outcome is a resolution or a handoff you built, and a customer who reads Fin’s answer and leaves without asking for more help counts as a resolution. What you pay around that depends on the helpdesk Fin runs on. On Intercom’s own helpdesk, every teammate who answers needs a seat, from $19 or $29 a month billed yearly while Intercom tests two prices. On Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot or Freshdesk there are no seats, and Fin’s help centre sets a base fee of $49 a month that includes 50 resolutions.
We read every figure on Fin’s and Intercom’s pricing pages and help centres on 23 September 2026, and each price links to where we read it. Fin is also the company’s name now. It was called Intercom until May 2026, Salesforce bought it in September, and Intercom pricing explains how the two names are sold today.
Deacon is ours, and it doesn’t bill by outcome. It’s an AI customer support agent for founders who answer support themselves, with no helpdesk underneath. It answers your customers in seconds from your own docs and shows you what they’re stuck on and what they want next, for a plan price you know before the month starts. There’s a free plan, and it needs no card.
Fin AI pricing on each helpdesk
Fin is one AI agent sold two ways. With Intercom’s helpdesk you pay for seats as well as outcomes. On a helpdesk you already run, you pay a base fee that includes some outcomes instead.

|---|---|---|---|
| Intercom’s helpdesk, Essential | $19 or $29 a seat a month billed yearly, or $29 or $39 monthly | $0.99 | A 14-day trial with no card |
| Intercom’s helpdesk, Advanced | $85 a seat a month billed yearly, or $99 monthly | $0.99 | A 14-day trial with no card |
| Intercom’s helpdesk, Expert | $132 a seat a month billed yearly | $0.99 | A 14-day trial with no card |

Fin’s pricing page also names Dixa, Front, Zoho, Sprinklr and Gorgias among the helpdesks it works with, and says it supports “additional platforms and custom channels” too. Intercom’s pricing FAQs say you can start a trial yourself only on Freshdesk, Freshchat and HubSpot, and that “Salesforce and other platforms” go through sales.
Everything is billed in US dollars, since Fin says it can’t bill in any other currency.
What counts as a Fin outcome
An outcome is counted, in Fin’s words, “when Fin successfully delivers value”. There are five kinds, set out in Intercom’s article on outcomes, and a conversation is charged for one at most, however many questions Fin answers in it.
| Outcome | When it’s counted | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | No further help is requested after Fin’s last answer | $0.99 |
| Procedure handoff | Fin finishes a Procedure you set up to end in a handoff to a person or a workflow | $0.99 |
| Disqualification | Fin decides a sales prospect doesn’t meet your criteria | $0.99 |
| Qualification | Fin matches a prospect to your criteria and routes them, for example to book a call | $9.99 |
| Self-serve qualification | Fin routes a prospect to a path you’ve marked self-serve, such as signing up for a trial | $0.99 |

The last three come only from Fin for Sales, which needs an Intercom plan. For support, the outcome that matters is the resolution. It’s confirmed when the customer says something like “Ok thanks”, and assumed when they leave without asking for more. Fin’s own help article puts a time on leaving, and counts a customer who “disengages from the conversation for 24 hours after Fin’s last answer” as an assumed resolution.
When Fin charges and when it doesn’t
The edges of that definition decide most of the bill. These cases come from Intercom’s and Fin’s help articles on outcomes.
| What happened | Charged |
|---|---|
| The customer reads Fin’s answer, goes quiet for 24 hours and never comes back | Yes, as an assumed resolution |
| The customer is unhappy with the answer and simply leaves | Yes, $0.99 |
| A teammate joins after Fin has answered, and the customer hadn’t asked for more help | Yes |
| A teammate assigns themselves or closes a conversation Fin answered from your content | Yes, unless Fin had escalated it |
| Fin recommends products, and the customer goes on to add them to a cart and check out | One resolution, with nothing more for the cart |
| The customer asks for a person at any point | No, unless Fin is set to collect their details before handing over and they go quiet without giving them |
| Fin escalates under its default behaviour, for example when it detects frustration, or under your workspace’s escalation rules | No |
| Fin says it has no answer, and a teammate replies | No |
| A Procedure fails to finish | No |
| Fin only answers a greeting | No |
| Fin asks a clarifying question and gets no reply | No |
| The customer comes back to a resolved conversation for more help, even in a later billing period | The charge is taken off |

Two of those surprise people most. A customer who leaves annoyed counts the same as one who leaves happy, and Fin’s help centre suggests setting escalation rules so Fin hands frustrated customers over first. And a handoff you built into a Procedure is billed, while a handoff Fin makes by default isn’t.
Fin with Intercom’s helpdesk
On Intercom, Fin comes with every plan, and you pay for it only when it delivers outcomes. The rest of the bill is seats. Each teammate who answers customers needs a full seat, and Essential is listed at $19 or $29 a seat a month billed yearly, depending on which of two prices Intercom’s page shows you. Intercom doesn’t say which of the two an account is billed at.
There’s no free plan. The 14-day trial needs no card and gives you “unlimited access to Fin outcomes”, and when it ends, Intercom’s pricing FAQs say you can’t use Fin or Intercom until you subscribe. Fin for Sales is only on Intercom plans. Intercom pricing goes through the seats, the add-ons and the Early Stage programme for startups.
Fin on Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot and Freshdesk
Fin on a helpdesk you already run has no seats. Fin’s help articles for each of the four describe the same model, a base fee of $49 a month including 50 AI resolutions, $0.99 for each one after that and unlimited teammates. Fin’s pricing page puts the same floor as “50 outcomes per month minimum” at $0.99, which by our arithmetic is $49.50 rather than $49.
Those 50 don’t roll over. Fin’s help article on outcomes says that if you don’t use them in a month, “these will not be carried over and will be lost”. It also gives two worked months, 5 resolutions for $49 and 100 for $99.50. By our arithmetic, $49 plus 50 more at $0.99 is $98.50, so check the first invoice against your own count.
What you get varies by helpdesk.
- On Zendesk, Fin can answer in Zendesk’s messaging, on Zendesk tickets from email or contact forms, or in Fin’s own Messenger, and hands over to your team in Zendesk.
- On Salesforce, Fin answers cases and in the Fin Messenger. Fin calls the integration “managed availability”, so you ask its sales team for access.
- On HubSpot, Fin answers tickets, in the Fin Messenger and on WhatsApp. Importing your HubSpot knowledge base needs Content Hub Professional or Enterprise, Fin’s HubSpot article says.
- On Freshdesk and Freshchat, you can connect either or both.
Fin’s pricing page says there are no setup, integration or platform fees on top. Your helpdesk still charges for its own seats, though, and on Zendesk that’s from $19 an agent a month billed yearly, as Zendesk AI pricing sets out. Fin’s topics, trends and CX Score come with the Pro add-on, from $99 a month. Copilot, the assistant for your agents, is $35 a user a month. Fin’s pricing page says in one answer that you can add it “to any integration” and in another that it “is currently available for Salesforce”, while its help centre has a guide to setting up Copilot in Zendesk, so ask before counting on it elsewhere. Startups can’t use Intercom’s Early Stage discount with Fin on another helpdesk.

Outside Early Stage, Fin has no allowance to run out of on Intercom’s plans. Unless you’re on a contract, Intercom’s usage article says, you pay as you go and get a bill for the usage at the end of the period.
You can set two controls under Settings, Subscription, Usage, which Fin’s usage article describes.
- An alert emails your billing contacts at 50%, 80% and 100% of a number you choose. It doesn’t stop Fin.
- A hard limit switches Fin off for the rest of the billing period once it’s reached. New conversations go straight to your handover steps, and ones already under way hand over the next time the customer replies.
Neither can be set during the trial. A hard limit can’t go below your contracted amount, so on another helpdesk a limit of 30 still bills the 50. Changes take effect within the hour, and Intercom says it “cannot guarantee the limit will be 100% accurate”, because a conversation’s outcome can change after it’s counted.
Three months of Fin, priced
These months are a quiet 30 outcomes, a middling 120 and a busy 300, for one person answering support. Where Intercom is testing two Essential prices, both are shown. The sums are ours.

On another helpdesk, the first 50 are in the $49 whether you use them or not, so the quiet month costs the same as a month of 50. Priced the pricing page’s way instead, as a 50-outcome minimum at $0.99, the same three months come to $49.50, $118.80 and $297. The helpdesk’s own seats aren’t in that row. On Intercom, each extra teammate adds a seat to every column. Early Stage covers 300 outcomes a month in its first year, then 150 in the second and 75 in the third, with the rest at $0.99.
The bigger unknown is how many of your conversations turn into outcomes. Fin’s Zendesk article says Fin resolves 76% of customer queries on average. At that rate, a month of 400 conversations would bring about 304 outcomes, by our arithmetic, or $300.96 at $0.99 each. AI help desks sets Fin’s meter beside the ones other helpdesks run.
Deacon, a plan price in place of a meter
Fin is built to sit on a helpdesk that a support team works in, and its price moves with every conversation. If you’re a founder answering support yourself, you may have no helpdesk to plug it into, and next month’s bill depends on how many customers read an answer and leave. Deacon is built for you instead.
Add one script tag, point it at your docs, and Deacon answers your customers in seconds, day and night, in whatever language they write in. It answers only from what your content says. When a question isn’t covered, it says it doesn’t know rather than making something up, and asks for the visitor’s email. When they leave it or ask for a person, you get an email, and you reply from Deacon’s dashboard. While they still have the chat open, your reply appears there under your name.
The questions your content didn’t cover are listed for you, each with an Answer this button. What you write becomes part of what Deacon knows, and Save & check shows you the reply Deacon now gives and how many other open questions your answer covers. So each answer you write means fewer questions wait for you next time.
The customer insights come on every plan, with no add-on. Every conversation is kept and searchable by what visitors asked. Topics group the questions, count the people asking and label most of them as a how-to, a bug report, a feature ask and so on. Analytics › Widget shows how many people wrote in, the share Deacon answered and the languages they wrote in, and the same script runs your website analytics.
Deacon counts answers rather than outcomes. An answer is one reply Deacon writes on your live site, including one saying it doesn’t know, and you know how many you have before the month starts. Free gives you 50 answers a month and 1 seat, with room for about 67 pages of docs, no card and no end date. Starter is $50 a month, or $40 a month billed yearly, for 1,000 answers a month and 3 seats. Growth is $150 a month, or $120 a month billed yearly, for 4,000 answers a month and 10 seats. Every feature is on every plan, the free one included.
Nothing is billed past a plan’s answers, and no plan upgrades itself. Your team’s owners get an email when 80% of the month’s answers are used and again at 100%. If they run out, visitors get a short reply saying Deacon can’t look into it right now and are asked for their email, unless they’ve already left it, and you can still reply to every conversation yourself.
Questions about Fin AI pricing
How much does Fin AI cost per resolution?
$0.99, and at most one charge a conversation, however many questions Fin answers in it. A Procedure that ends in a handoff and a sales disqualification cost the same, and a sales qualification costs $9.99. On Intercom’s helpdesk you pay seats on top, and on another helpdesk the first 50 resolutions a month are in a $49 base fee.
Is Fin AI free to try?
Yes, for 14 days, with no card and unlimited outcomes. On HubSpot, Freshdesk and Freshchat you can start the trial yourself, and on Salesforce and other helpdesks through sales. Fin has no free plan. It does offer new customers the Fin Million Dollar Guarantee, a refund of their Fin spend, up to $1M, if they’re not satisfied after at least 250 paid conversations in their first 90 days. Startups on Early Stage can’t claim it.
Can I use Fin without a helpdesk?
Fin’s help centre describes running Fin in its own Messenger and handing customers on to any other system, through a link, a piece of JavaScript or an API call, or not handing them on at all. It doesn’t give that setup a price of its own, so ask Fin’s sales team. Deacon is made for a founder with no helpdesk, and you reply to customers from its own dashboard.
Who owns Fin now?
Salesforce. It completed its purchase of Fin, the company formerly called Intercom, on 10 September 2026, and says Fin will continue to serve its customers. Fin AI alternatives sets Fin against ten AI agents that bill another way, and Deacon vs Fin AI puts it beside Deacon.
What does Deacon count as an answer?
Every reply Deacon writes on your live site, whether or not the visitor writes back, including one saying it doesn’t know. A reply that failed isn’t counted, nor is the short fixed reply sent when nothing in your content matches at all. Chats in the Playground and on a development address such as localhost never count, and nor do messages between a visitor and you.
Can Deacon take actions like Fin’s Procedures?
No. Deacon answers questions and hands conversations to you, and it takes no actions in other systems, so it won’t issue a refund or change a plan. It always declines questions about a visitor’s own account, order or data. It also answers only in a chat on your website, where Fin reaches email, phone, WhatsApp and other channels.
Try it on your own documentation
Add your help pages, ask it the question you know your docs cannot answer, and watch it say so.
