Zendesk pricing plans per agent, and the AI on top
Every Zendesk plan per agent, billed yearly or monthly, what the AI, Copilot and add-ons add, and what one to three agents pay, read on 25 September 2026.
Published
Zendesk pricing is set per agent, per month. Support Team, the cheapest plan, is $19 an agent a month billed yearly or $25 monthly, and it covers email and tickets. Suite Team, the first plan with live chat, a help centre and voice, is $55 billed yearly or $69 monthly. Suite Growth is $89 or $115 and Suite Professional $115 or $149, while Suite Enterprise shows no price, only a button to talk to sales. The AI agents that answer your customers come with every plan, and each automated resolution past a small allowance is billed on top, at $2.00 on pay as you go. We read every figure in US dollars on Zendesk’s pricing page and help centre on 25 September 2026.
Deacon is ours, and it isn’t a helpdesk. It’s an AI customer support agent for founders who answer support themselves. It answers your customers in seconds from your own docs, hands you the conversations that need a person and shows you what customers are asking for. There’s a free plan, and it needs no card.
Zendesk pricing plans
Zendesk sells two lines of plans. Support is email and tickets, and Suite adds messaging, live chat, a help centre and voice. Every plan is priced per agent, and the pricing page opens on yearly billing, which it labels 20% off.

So four plans show a price. The page’s FAQ says enterprise plans “generally require sales engagement”, and the $169 and $219 for Suite Enterprise sit in the page’s own code without being shown. Suite Growth’s price is shown in the table that opens from Compare all plan features, below the cards.
Paying yearly saves more than the 20% label on the cheapest plan. Support Team’s $19 against $25 is 24% off, Suite Professional’s $115 against $149 is 23%, and Suite Team’s $55 against $69 is 20%. The sums are ours.
Zendesk bills in US dollars, euros, sterling and Brazilian reais, and it sends visitors from the UK to its UK site, which shows sterling. Its FAQ says subscriptions run month to month, yearly or over several years, paid by card, bank debit or PayPal.
Support or Suite, and what each Zendesk plan adds
Zendesk’s FAQ calls Support the place to begin “with email-based customer support”, and Suite its “all-in-one customer service solution”. Each plan below includes everything in the one before it, and these details come from the pricing page’s cards and its comparison table.
- Support Team is a ticketing system for email, with unlimited support addresses, routing, pre-written replies, triggers, automations and prebuilt dashboards. Its AI agents answer by email, and the comparison table marks AI agents for messaging as needing messaging, which Support Team doesn’t have. A help centre, live chat and phone support all start on Suite Team.
- Suite Team adds messaging and live chat on your website and app, social and messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, one help centre in one language, and phone support, with the numbers and call minutes sold as add-ons. It’s also the cheapest plan whose AI agents answer chats on your site.
- Suite Growth adds SLAs, several ticket forms, customer satisfaction surveys, a customer portal and up to 5 help centres in 40 or more languages. It also includes up to 50 light agents, colleagues who can follow tickets and leave private comments.
- Suite Professional adds skills-based routing, IVR phone trees, community forums, HIPAA support, custom reports, App Builder and Admin Copilot, and up to 100 light agents. Every agent gets 5 uses a month of Copilot’s writing tools and ticket summaries, pooled across the team, and it’s the first plan the full Copilot can be added to.
- Suite Enterprise adds custom agent roles, audit logs, two sandboxes, approval workflows for help centre articles and up to 300 help centres. It’s also the only plan that takes the Zendesk branding off your chat widget.
If routing and deadlines are what you’re buying, helpdesk automation shows which plan unlocks each on Zendesk and two other helpdesks.
What Zendesk’s AI costs on top of the plan
Zendesk’s AI agents, its chatbots for your customers, come with every Suite and Support plan, and you pay for what they settle. Zendesk bills them by the automated resolution, a customer request the AI resolved “without any escalation to a human agent”, in the pricing page’s words. Three things decide what the AI adds to your bill.
- The allowance. By the pricing page’s count, Support Team and Suite Team include 5 resolutions an agent a month, Suite Growth and Professional 10 and Enterprise 15, up to 10,000 a year.
- More resolutions. The comparison table prices each one at $2.00 on pay as you go, or $1.50 if you commit to a number ahead.
- Overage. Zendesk’s help centre says it’s on by default, so the AI keeps answering past the allowance and the extra is billed monthly, whatever your subscription term. Choose “Don’t allow overage” and the AI agent pauses at the limit, which sends more requests to your agents.
Zendesk’s help centre describes a newer allowance for accounts on the resolution tiers it introduced on 18 May 2026. There it’s a pool of dollars, $2 an agent seat a month on Suite Team and every Support plan, $5 on Suite Growth and Professional and $10 on Enterprise, at most $5,000 a year and never carried over. Zendesk AI pricing explains how a resolution is counted, how the two allowances differ and what a busy month costs.
On a website, the AI starts on Suite Team, since it answers chats through messaging. Two agents there billed monthly pay $138 a month in seats and get 10 resolutions a month. A month in which the AI resolves 100 requests adds $180 for the other 90 on pay as you go, or $150 if you’d committed ahead, since a commitment starts at 100 resolutions. The sums are ours. AI help desks sets Zendesk’s meter beside what other helpdesks bill their AI by.
Copilot and Zendesk’s other add-ons
Copilot is Zendesk’s AI assistant for your own agents, separate from the AI agents that answer customers. The pricing page says it “can be added to Professional and higher plan levels”, and the trial includes it.
| Add-on | Price | What it gives you |
|---|---|---|
| Copilot | $50 an agent a month, billed yearly or monthly | Auto assist, suggested replies and macros, writing tools, intelligent triage and recommendations for admins, on Suite Professional and above |
| Workforce Engagement Bundle | $50 an agent a month billed yearly, or $65 monthly | Quality assurance, staffing and scheduling, performance management and coaching |
| Contact Center | $83 an agent a month billed yearly | Zendesk’s contact centre product, running on AWS infrastructure |
| Action credits | $200 per 100,000 actions a subscription term | More Action Builder runs, past the plan’s 40,000 a month on Support Team, Suite Team and Suite Growth, 100,000 on Professional and 225,000 on Enterprise |

The rest of the add-ons have no price on the pricing page, apart from $50 packs of extra monthly active users and notifications for Zendesk’s messaging platform on Suite Professional and above. Phone numbers, call minutes, text messages and extra light agents are marked as add-ons, and the FAQ says App Builder, Action Builder and voice are billed on use past each plan’s allowance. Quality assurance, workforce management and Advanced Data Privacy and Protection have no separate price either, and Zendesk’s add-ons article offers the data privacy add-on only from Suite Enterprise up and on Support Enterprise. A new customer buying Suite Professional or above can also ask sales for a Suite + Copilot bundle at a discount.
Try Deacon for free
Install DeaconZendesk’s free trial and Zendesk for Startups
Zendesk has no free plan. Its free trial lasts 14 days and needs no credit card. By the pricing page’s FAQ, the trial runs on Suite Professional with Copilot included, so you try more than Suite Team would give you, and trying another plan means contacting Zendesk.
Zendesk for Startups stretches that trial for companies that qualify. Every accepted startup gets 6 months of Suite Professional and Copilot free, and some VC and accelerator partners extend it to 1 or 2 years. It covers up to 50 agents, depending on your funding and partner. The programme’s FAQ asks for a company that’s new to Zendesk, under 10 years old, no further than a Series B round and with fewer than 250 employees, referred by a partner once it has 50. No card is needed up front, and when the free period ends you choose a paid plan to keep the account.
The page disagrees with itself on funding. Its FAQ welcomes founders who are “venture-backed, bootstrapped, or anywhere in between”, while the small print under the form limits the offer to companies that have raised outside money, from an angel round to Series B. If you’ve bootstrapped, ask Zendesk before counting on it. Customer support for startups sets the programme beside other helpdesks’ startup offers.
What Zendesk costs a team of one to three
These are the seats alone for one, two or three agents on each plan with a price. Copilot starts on Suite Professional, so only that plan has rows with it. None include AI resolutions past the allowance, phone numbers and minutes or other add-ons, and the sums are ours.

Zendesk’s page says “paid yearly” for the yearly price, so one agent on Suite Team comes to $660 for the year, and three on Suite Professional with Copilot to $5,940.
For a founder who wants live chat and the AI on their website, the row that matters is Suite Team. One person pays $55 a month billed yearly or $69 monthly. Billed monthly, a month in which the AI resolves 100 requests adds $190 on pay as you go, for the 95 past the allowance. At the top of the table, three agents on Suite Professional with Copilot billed monthly pay $597 before the AI has resolved anything.
For a Zendesk pricing comparison, Freshdesk pricing and Intercom pricing work through those two helpdesks’ bills, and Zendesk competitors sets eight helpdesks and one AI agent side by side on seats and AI prices.
Deacon, for a founder who doesn’t need a helpdesk
Zendesk’s bill is built for a support team, with a seat for every agent, features that unlock plan by plan and a meter on the AI. Early on, that team is often one founder answering customers between everything else. Deacon is built for that founder, and there’s no helpdesk to run.
You add one script tag and point Deacon at your docs, and it answers your customers in seconds, at any hour, in the language they write in. When your docs don’t cover a question, it says it doesn’t know instead of guessing and asks for the visitor’s email. You get an email when they leave it or ask for a person, and you reply from Deacon’s dashboard. While their chat is open, your reply appears there under your first name and your company’s.
Each question your docs missed waits in Conversations with an Answer this button. Every answer you write becomes part of what Deacon knows, so the more you answer, the less it needs you.
You also see what customers need, from everyone who asks rather than the loudest few. Topics group their questions, count the people asking and label most of them as a feature ask, a bug report, a how-to and so on. Analytics › Widget shows the messages, the people, the share Deacon answered and the languages they wrote in.
Every feature is on every plan, and each plan includes its seats. Free is 50 answers a month and 1 seat, with no card and no end date. Starter is $50 a month, or $40 a month billed yearly, for 1,000 answers a month and 3 seats. Growth is $150 a month, or $120 a month billed yearly, for 4,000 answers a month and 10 seats. Nothing is billed past your plan’s answers and no plan upgrades itself. There’s no “powered by” line on any plan, so there’s no badge to pay to remove.
Questions about Zendesk pricing
Does Zendesk have a free plan?
No. Zendesk offers a 14-day trial with no credit card, on Suite Professional with Copilot included. A startup that qualifies can have 6 months free through Zendesk for Startups, or up to 2 years through some of its partners.
How much does Zendesk cost for one person?
Support Team is $19 a month billed yearly, or $25 monthly, for email and tickets. For live chat and the AI on your website, Suite Team is $55 billed yearly or $69 monthly. By the pricing page’s count, the AI’s resolutions past the first 5 a month are then $2.00 each on pay as you go.
Is Zendesk priced per user or per agent?
Per agent. People search for Zendesk pricing per user, but you pay for each agent seat, a teammate who answers customers. Suite Growth and above also include light agents, up to 50, 100 or 1,000 by plan, who can follow tickets and add private comments. Light agents don’t add to the AI allowance, which counts only agents with seats.
Can I pay for Zendesk monthly?
Yes. Every plan with a price can be billed monthly, at $25 to $149 an agent against $19 to $115 billed yearly. Zendesk also sells multi-year terms, and AI overage is billed monthly whatever your term. Its FAQ says a change of plan may take effect at once or at renewal, depending on your subscription terms.
How much does Zendesk’s chatbot cost?
Zendesk’s AI agents come with every plan and are billed by the automated resolution. Each plan includes a few a month for each agent, and past them each one is $2.00 on pay as you go or $1.50 committed ahead. On a website the AI answers through messaging, which starts on Suite Team.
Can Deacon replace Zendesk?
If you answer support yourself and most questions are ones your docs already answer, yes. Deacon answers them on your website and hands you the ones that need a person, in its own dashboard. It isn’t a helpdesk, though. It has no ticketing, no email inbox, no routing or assignment, no phone or voice, no WhatsApp, SMS or social channels and no integrations, and it takes no actions such as refunds. It always declines questions about a visitor’s own account. If a team works a shared queue, Zendesk does that job and Deacon doesn’t. Deacon vs Zendesk sets the two side by side.
