Kajabi Expert Agents: cost, limits and alternatives

How Kajabi’s Sales Agent and Teaching Assistant learn, what an agent costs before and after 30 September 2026, the themes they need and four other chatbots.

Published

Kajabi Expert Agents are the AI chats Kajabi builds into your site, and there are two kinds. A Sales Agent answers prospects on your sales and landing pages from the Offers you link it to. A Teaching Assistant answers members inside a course or coaching product, from the lessons, transcripts and community posts they have access to. Each agent is $49 a month if you buy it by 30 September 2026, locked for 12 months, and $79 a month after that, on top of your Kajabi plan. They run only on pages Kajabi hosts. We read Kajabi’s help centre, blog and pricing page, and each other chatbot’s pricing page, on 23 September 2026.

Deacon is ours. It’s an AI customer support agent that goes on any page, on Kajabi or off it, and answers your prospects and students in seconds from the pages, files and text you give it. It also shows you what they ask about most, so you know what to explain better and what to make next. You can try it on the free plan, which gives you 50 answers a month with no card and no end date.

The Sales Agent and the Teaching Assistant

Kajabi’s Expert Agents overview splits the two by when someone meets them, before they buy or after. This is how they differ, from the overview and Kajabi’s setup guides for the Sales Agent and the Teaching Assistant.

Who it answers

Sales Agent
Prospects and visitors, with or without an account
Teaching Assistant
Members who own the product

Where you can put it

Sales Agent
Landing pages, website pages, offer checkout pages and upsell pages
Teaching Assistant
Courses and coaching, plus landing and website pages

What it learns from

Sales Agent
The Offers and Landing Pages you link it to
Teaching Assistant
The lessons, video transcripts, downloads and community posts in the products you choose

Who gets which answers

Sales Agent
Everyone gets answers from the same Offer details
Teaching Assistant
Each member gets answers only from the products they own

How it talks about you

Sales Agent
As a representative of your business
Teaching Assistant
In the third person, such as “Based on what Coach Sarah teaches in Module 3”

Thumbs up and down on replies

Sales Agent
Off until you turn them on
Teaching Assistant
On from the start

When it brings you in

Sales Agent
It doesn’t escalate by itself, so you take over by hand
Teaching Assistant
It raises the chat in your inbox when a member sounds frustrated or confused, or asks for a person

Both answer only from what you’ve published, never from the open web, and the Sales Agent won’t invent products or prices you haven’t published. The Teaching Assistant cites its sources, and Kajabi’s blog says it points a student to the lesson and the moment in the video where you explained the idea. Neither takes actions on anyone’s account, such as a refund or a change of settings. Both refuse off-topic questions and give no medical, legal or financial advice, though a Teaching Assistant will pass on what your own materials teach. They run on GPT-5.4, which each agent’s AI model field shows.

What Kajabi Expert Agents cost

Kajabi prices Expert Agents per agent, per month. Every agent includes 1,000 messages and 250 AI credits a month, and the help centre says there’s no separate charge for the messages included.

One agent

Agents bought 1 August to 30 September 2026
$49 a month
Agents bought after 30 September 2026
$79 a month

Each agent when you buy more than one

Agents bought 1 August to 30 September 2026
$34.30 a month, 30% off
Agents bought after 30 September 2026
$79 a month, with no discount

Rate lock

Agents bought 1 August to 30 September 2026
12 months from the day you buy
Agents bought after 30 September 2026
None

Those prices are only on the help centre. Kajabi’s pricing page ticks Expert Agents on all three plans with a “coming soon” badge and no price. The plans are Basic at $143 a month billed yearly or $179 monthly, Growth at $199 or $249, and Pro at $399 or $499, and the agents come on top.

Here’s what that means in practice, by our arithmetic. A Sales Agent for your sales page and a Teaching Assistant for your course are two agents, so $68.60 a month at the early rate, or $823.20 over the 12 locked months, and $158 a month at the standard rate. One Teaching Assistant can cover several products, since you choose one or more when you set it up, and each member still gets answers only from what they own. A second Kajabi site needs its own agent, because an agent belongs to the site you made it on, though your agent count is shared across the account.

Kajabi’s blog introduced Expert Agents on 19 May 2026. Two reviews date the Teaching Assistant’s arrival to June, and the paid rates start on 1 August.

What a message is, and what AI credits pay for

Kajabi doesn’t define a message. Its guides don’t say whether one is each thing a person sends or each reply, or what happens when an agent passes 1,000 in a month. They say only that any change to usage terms will be announced before it takes effect. Each agent’s analytics count Total Messages as the messages it has received.

AI credits matter for the Teaching Assistant, because it reads video captions, never the video itself, and a video without captions is invisible to it. Kajabi’s AI credits article charges 1 credit a minute to transcribe, so an agent’s 250 credits caption about four hours of video a month, by our arithmetic. Growth adds 500 credits a month and Pro 1,000, Basic adds none, and 500 more cost $15. Setup shows you the credit cost before it captions anything. When you’re short, a transcription can’t start until you buy more or the credits reset on the 1st, and uploading your own transcript saves them.

How each agent learns your content and keeps up

A Teaching Assistant learns from the products you choose, and you can narrow each one down to particular modules, lessons, a lesson’s text or its video transcript, downloads and community channels. Anything newly published in those products is included automatically, so you only switch off what you want left out. Member Pages are somewhere to place the agent, not something it learns from.

After setup, Kajabi’s guide to managing a Teaching Assistant says new lessons and lesson text, new community posts, new newsletter articles and new captions are picked up on their own, captions within a few minutes. New videos aren’t. Kajabi won’t spend your AI credits without your say-so, so a video you add later stays unknown to the agent until you caption it in the Media Library, or reopen the agent and press Submit to caption every waiting video at once. Kajabi singles out recordings of live calls and coaching sessions, where the agent knows only the lesson title and any text you typed until they’re transcribed.

A Sales Agent learns from the Offers or Landing Pages you link it to and syncs their details. Each source reads Syncing, then Synced, and one that reads Partial or Failed leaves gaps in what the agent knows. Kajabi’s blog says the agents resync the moment you update a lesson, post or sales page. The guides list only your Kajabi products, Offers and Landing Pages as sources, so a refund policy or login help has to live in one of them.

What you need before you can add one

Every Expert Agent needs Builder 2.0 on the page or product it goes on, and a theme on at least these versions, according to the overview.

  • Encore Site, Landing Page, Offer and Offer Upsell 2.14.7
  • Premier site 6.5.2 and Premier Product 7.10.3
  • Momentum Product 7.1.3

Third-party templates can be updated to work with agents, and JiffyCoursesOnline, which sells Kajabi course templates, says the latest versions of four of its templates are ready. For a Teaching Assistant inside a course, Kajabi says only the latest Premier or Momentum course themes show the agent’s block, and a member library built on Encore needs its page updated first.

You place an agent in the Theme Editor, as a floating chat button in the corner or as a chat block inside a section. Creating an agent switches it on, but nobody can reach it until it’s on a published page. Kajabi’s Teaching Assistant guide says you can test one from its page under Agents, which has a preview chat. JiffyCoursesOnline found that trying a Teaching Assistant inside the course as the admin doesn’t work the same way, because you haven’t bought the product, so test with a member account in a second browser.

Where Expert Agents run, and where they can’t

Expert Agents live on Kajabi and nowhere else. These limits come from Kajabi’s help centre and blog.

  • They render only on Kajabi-hosted pages, so they can’t go on a blog, shop or docs site you run elsewhere.
  • An agent belongs to the site you made it on and uses only that site’s content. Duplicating a product onto another site doesn’t bring its agent along.
  • They’re text only, with no voice.
  • They reply in the language each person writes in, from content in whatever language you wrote or captioned it. A custom instruction can hold them to one language.
  • A Teaching Assistant remembers what was said within a chat, but not across separate conversations with the same member.
  • The visitor always starts the chat. The agents never open one themselves.
  • A Sales Agent runs an invisible bot check when someone starts a chat, and only traffic that looks automated may be asked to verify.

What you see as the creator

Every conversation with either agent lands in Universal Inbox, which is on every Kajabi plan and also holds your Instagram and Facebook messages if you connect them. The guides for managing a Sales Agent and managing a Teaching Assistant describe the rest.

  • You can take over any conversation. The agent goes quiet while you reply, your messages show as yours, and you can hand the chat back when you’re done.
  • A Teaching Assistant raises a conversation in the inbox when a member sounds frustrated or confused or asks for a person. A Sales Agent never does, though Kajabi says chats showing high intent may sit higher in the list.
  • Each agent’s page counts total messages, active conversations, unique people and the average messages a conversation. A Teaching Assistant’s also counts the flagged chats still waiting for you.
  • With ratings on, you see the approval rate, the thumbs up and down over time and each rated reply, and a report sets every agent side by side over 7, 30 or 90 days or all time.
  • A Sales Agent can ask for an email after 3, 5 or 8 messages, in words you choose. It saves the address as a Contact, which can start an Automation, and it asks for nothing but the email.
  • A contact’s Lifecycle page keeps their whole history with your agents.
  • Disabling an agent hides it and keeps its history. Deleting one removes its conversations and analytics for good.

None of the six Kajabi guides to the agents and the inbox that we read describes grouping questions by subject or counting how many people asked the same thing. From what Kajabi documents, finding out what students are stuck on means reading the chats one at a time.

What reviewers found

Two independent reviews rank for Kajabi Expert Agents, and neither gives the prices the help centre lists now.

Courseplatformsreview’s full review, published on 24 June 2026, covers only the Teaching Assistant, which it says came out that month, and calls the Sales Agent planned. It found setup “fairly quick and straightforward”, liked that the Assistant answers only from your materials, and called it “a narrow tool designed for a specific purpose”. On price, it found no per-message charge at launch, warned that this was beta pricing, and expected Kajabi to pass the cost on at some point. The $49 and $79 rates have since borne that out.

JiffyCoursesOnline’s explainer, published on 2 June 2026 and updated on 29 July, dates the rollout to 1 June. Its two most useful tips are to test with a real member account, and to add a lesson that lists everything your product can do, so the agent can answer about things you never filmed.

Kajabi’s own pages haven’t caught up with each other either. The pricing page still says “coming soon”. The Teaching Assistant’s setup guide says it’s the only template and that a Sales Agent is planned, while the Sales Agent has two guides of its own. And the May blog post says the Sales Agent doesn’t capture leads, while its management guide shows how to switch lead capture on. Where they disagree, we’ve gone by the help centre’s guide for each agent.

Who Kajabi Expert Agents suit

The Teaching Assistant does something Deacon can’t. It answers each member from the lessons they own, keeps up as you publish, and sends them to the right lesson. Deacon’s crawl can’t sign in to your members’ area, and it answers everyone from the same content. If most of what students ask is about lesson content, and your business lives entirely on Kajabi, a Teaching Assistant earns its place.

Expert Agents suit you less well in a few cases.

  • Part of your business lives off Kajabi, such as a blog on WordPress or a shop on Shopify, since the agents run only on Kajabi pages.
  • Your pages are on the old builder or a theme older than the versions above.
  • You want one chat across your sales pages and your courses, which Kajabi prices as two agents.
  • Most questions are about logins, refunds and start dates rather than lessons. A Sales Agent answers those only if they’re in the Offers or Landing Pages you link it to, and a Teaching Assistant only if they’re in the products you connect.
  • You want to know what people ask about most without reading every conversation.

Boei is the one built most around a Kajabi course. Its Kajabi page says it can’t crawl login-protected Kajabi pages, so for coaching calls and member-only lessons you upload each video’s SRT subtitle file and set the video’s address. It then answers with an approximate timestamp and a link. You upload a new file after every call or lesson, which Boei puts at two to three minutes a video, and the page doesn’t mention keeping those answers to members. Starter includes one live chat seat, and Boei’s branding comes off for $14 a month, or on Business at $129 a month billed yearly.

DocsBot reads more kinds of source than most, 28 and more by its own count. Its free plan is for personal use. Its plan table promises a free bot “No 30-day expiry”, though its terms still say a free bot’s data may be deleted 30 days after it’s made. Escalation tickets, for handing a question to a person, start on Standard at $149 a month, and its branding comes off on Business, at $499.

Chatbase can also answer on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram from Hobby, and take phone calls from Standard, at $150 a month. A reply costs 1 to 6 credits depending on the model, both of its ways to hand a chat to a person rely on features that start on Standard, and the “Powered By Chatbase” line costs $99 a month to remove.

Creator.io, the chatbot Kajabi’s help centre still has guides for, is part of Kajabi now, and its site says sign-ups are paused.

Deacon for a course business

Your prospects ask whether the course suits a beginner, when the next cohort starts and what happens if it isn’t for them. Your students ask where to log in, why the welcome email hasn’t come and whether the bonus call is recorded. The answers are on your sales pages and in a member FAQ, but people ask you anyway, and every repeat question pulls you away from making the next thing.

Deacon answers them in seconds, 24/7, from the pages you pick, the files you upload and the text you paste, in whatever language each person writes in. It goes on with one line, so the same chat sits on your Kajabi sales pages, inside your courses and on anything you run elsewhere, such as a blog or a shop, and answers everyone from the same content. A chat in both places on Kajabi takes two agents, a Sales Agent and a Teaching Assistant.

When your content doesn’t cover a question, Deacon says it doesn’t know rather than guessing, and asks for the person’s email. It does the same for anything about one person’s own purchase or login, which it can’t see inside Kajabi. When they leave an address or ask for a person, you get an email. Reply from Deacon’s dashboard, and if they still have the chat open, your reply appears there under your name.

Then Deacon gets better. Each question your content didn’t cover waits in the dashboard with an Answer this button. What you write becomes part of what Deacon knows, and Save & check shows the reply Deacon now gives and how many other open questions your answer covers. The more you answer, the less it needs you.

You also see what your students and prospects ask about most, from everyone who asks and not only the few who email. Every conversation is saved and searchable by what people asked. Topics groups similar questions, counts how many people asked and labels most of them, such as a how-to, a pricing question or a feature ask. A cluster about one module shows you what to explain again, and a run of requests for something you don’t teach shows you what to make next. The same line counts your visitors, where they came from and the goals they reach.

It takes a few minutes to add. The line goes in Header Page Scripts for your site and in Embedded Scripts for your courses, and our Kajabi chatbot guide has the steps and the checks. The free plan gives you 50 answers a month with no card and no end date, with every feature included. Starter is $50 a month, or $40 a month billed yearly, for 1,000 answers a month, and the pricing page has the rest.

Questions about Kajabi Expert Agents

Are Expert Agents included in a Kajabi plan?

No. They’re priced per agent, per month, on top of your plan, at $49 for agents bought between 1 August and 30 September 2026 and $79 after that. Kajabi’s pricing page ticks them on Basic, Growth and Pro, but marks them coming soon, with no price.

What happens to the $49 rate after 30 September 2026?

An agent bought by then keeps $49 a month, or $34.30 when you bought more than one, for 12 months from the day you bought it. An agent bought after 30 September costs $79 a month, with no discount for buying several. The help centre doesn’t say what an early agent costs once its 12 months are up.

Can an Expert Agent go on a site that isn’t on Kajabi?

No. Kajabi says they render only on Kajabi-hosted pages, and each agent belongs to the one Kajabi site you made it on.

Why doesn’t the agent block show in my theme?

Expert Agents need Builder 2.0 and a recent theme, such as Encore 2.14.7, Premier site 6.5.2, Premier Product 7.10.3 or Momentum Product 7.1.3. A Teaching Assistant in a course needs the latest Premier or Momentum course theme. Update the theme, or ask your template’s maker for a version that supports agents.

Can a Teaching Assistant answer from my coaching call recordings?

Only once they’re captioned. The Assistant reads transcripts, and a new video isn’t captioned automatically, so caption it in the Media Library or reopen the agent and press Submit. Captioning costs 1 AI credit a minute, and uploading a transcript of your own saves those credits.

Can Deacon answer from my course lessons?

Not from inside Kajabi. Deacon’s crawl can’t sign in, and whatever you give it, any visitor can get answers from. So give it what you’d tell anyone, such as your member FAQ, how to log in and your refund policy, and keep back the lessons people pay for. If each member should get answers from their own lessons, that’s the job Kajabi’s Teaching Assistant is built for.

What happens when Deacon’s free answers run out?

The chat stays on your pages. A person who asks gets a short reply saying Deacon can’t look into that one right now, and is asked for an email unless they’ve already left one in that conversation. Nothing is billed, your plan never upgrades itself, and you can still read and reply to every conversation.
