Chatling pricing, and what its credits buy by model

Chatling has four plans. Free costs nothing and gives you 200 AI credits a month. Starter is $25 a month, Growth $75 and Scale $295, or $21, $63 and $246 a month billed yearly, for 1,750, 6,000 and 35,000 credits a month. Every figure here was read on Chatling’s own pages on 23 September 2026, starting with its pricing page.

The credits are what to understand before you pay. A reply costs anywhere from half a credit to 25, depending on the AI model you pick, so Starter’s 1,750 credits cover anywhere from 70 replies to 3,500. Below are the plans, what a credit buys on each model, what your visitors see when the credits run out and what a founder’s month actually costs.

Deacon is an AI customer support agent for founders who answer support themselves, and it doesn’t charge by the model. One answer is one reply, every plan answers with the same model, and the free plan gives you 50 answers a month with no card and no end date.

Chatling’s plans at a glance

Chats are unlimited on every plan. What runs out is AI credits.

The page opens on monthly billing. Chatling’s home page says the free plan needs no credit card, and we found no trial of the paid plans. The pricing FAQ offers “a 7-day moneyback guarantee for initial purchases” instead.

Each step up buys more than credits. Starter adds 26 more AI models, analytics, the API, voice input, and the WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Telegram channels. Growth adds exporting chats and leads, round-robin routing for chats handed to your team, an AI summary of each handed-off chat, Copilot and a satisfaction survey. Scale is the only plan that drops the “Powered by Chatling” line without paying for an add-on. Actions, such as a lead form or a booking, run to 2 per agent on Free, 4 on Starter, 7 on Growth and 12 on Scale.

If a review site shows you an Ultimate plan, it’s describing an older lineup. The pricing page lists only Free, Starter, Growth and Scale, though Chatling’s help page on the branding still mentions Ultimate.

What a Chatling credit pays for

A credit is spent each time Chatling’s AI writes a reply. In the pricing FAQ’s words, “Each AI response consumes a certain number of AI credits based on the model used.” The scripted messages of a flow built in Chatling’s chatbot builder cost nothing, its docs say. Only a step that uses AI spends credits.

The FAQ gives a rate for each of its 29 models, from 0.5 credits a reply to 25. This is how many replies each plan’s credits buy at a spread of those rates, by our arithmetic.

The free plan offers three models, GPT 5.1, GPT-4.1 and GPT-4o, at 2.5 or 5 credits a reply. So its 200 credits come to 40 to 80 replies a month, and the half-credit models start on Starter.

Chatling’s docs give different rates for a few models from the ones on its pricing page. GPT-5.6 Terra is 10 credits a reply in the docs and 8 on the pricing page, and GPT-5.6 Luna is 5 against 4. We’ve used the pricing page’s rates throughout.

Credits aren’t the only allowance. Each plan also counts email credits for the Send Email action, from 25 a month on Free to 15,000 on Scale, and minutes of voice input from Starter. Refreshing your knowledge spends resync credits, one for every 10,000 characters, and Free has none of those, so it can’t sync your site on a schedule. The pricing FAQ says all of them are “reset every month”.

What your visitors see when the credits run out

At zero, the widget stays on your site and visitors can still type, but each one gets an error. Chatling’s help article says “an error will be displayed saying ‘Insufficient AI credits’”.

Nothing tops up by itself. You buy the Extra AI Credits add-on, at $10 a month for each 1,000, or move up a plan, and the error stays until you do or the month’s credits reset. You can switch on an alert for when usage reaches 50%, 75%, 90% or 100% of your credits.

Two settings keep a month’s credits from going early. A limit on one AI agent caps what it can spend, and once it reaches the cap, “that Agent will stop responding”, the docs say. A rate limit caps how many messages each visitor can send in a minute, an hour or a day, so one person can’t drain your credits, though it works only on the web widget.

Changing plan follows Chatling’s terms. An upgrade in the middle of a billing cycle charges a prorated amount at once. A downgrade starts from the next cycle, with no refund for the difference. You cancel with the button on the Billing & Usage page, since an email doesn’t count, and your content “will be scheduled for deletion shortly after your subscription comes to an end”.

Chatling’s add-ons

Chatling sells six add-ons, each billed monthly.

The branding add-on is the one founders notice. At $35 a month it costs more than Starter itself. Chatling’s pages don’t agree on which plans can buy it, though. The add-on list names no plan and the help page says buying it removes the badge, but the comparison table crosses out removing the branding on Free, Starter and Growth, where it marks the custom domain “Available as add-on”. If Starter can buy it, Starter without the badge is $60 a month and Growth without it is $110.

What a founder’s month costs on Chatling

Take a site with one founder answering support and 300 conversations a month. Across 1,053 conversations Deacon answered, measured on 22 September 2026, a conversation ran to 1.95 replies, so call it 2, and the month is 600 replies. A busier month of 1,000 conversations is 2,000 replies.

Each bill below is the cheapest mix of a paid plan and credit packs on monthly billing, worked out by us from Chatling’s pricing page. Chatling doesn’t say whether the free plan can buy extra credits, so every bill starts from a paid plan.

If the branding add-on can be bought on Starter, dropping the badge adds $35 to every bill except the $445 one, which is already on Scale. At 2,000 replies on Claude Sonnet 5, that makes $290 on Starter, just under Scale’s $295.

The model decides the bill more than the traffic does. The same 600 replies cost $25 a month on a light model and $165 on a flagship one, and switching to a stronger model to get better answers multiplies the credits every reply uses. What the same month costs on Deacon

Deacon counts answers, and an answer is one reply. Every plan answers with the same model and there’s no model menu, so the answers on your plan are the replies you get.

The founder’s 600 replies fit in Starter’s 1,000 answers a month, at $50 a month or $40 a month billed yearly. The busier month of 2,000 fits in Growth’s 4,000, at $150 a month or $120 a month billed yearly. A reply in which Deacon says it doesn’t know counts as an answer, and chats you try in the Playground never count.

The free plan gives you 50 answers a month for one person, with no card and no end date, and nothing on it is deleted if you go quiet. Every feature is on every plan, the free one included, and the plans differ only in answers, knowledge, crawled pages and seats.

When a month’s answers run out, nothing more is billed and no plan upgrades itself. Your visitors don’t get an error. They get a short reply saying Deacon can’t look into that one right now, and they’re asked for their email unless they’ve left it already in that conversation. Every owner on your team is emailed when 80% of the month’s answers are used, and again at 100%. There’s no “powered by” line on any plan, so there’s no badge to pay to remove.

Is Chatling free?

Chatling has a free plan with 200 AI credits a month, 1 AI agent, 1 seat and 500,000 characters of knowledge, and its home page says it needs no credit card. Its three models cost 2.5 or 5 credits a reply, so the credits cover 40 to 80 replies a month. Analytics, the API and every channel but the web start on Starter.

Does Chatling have a free trial?

We found none. Instead, the pricing FAQ offers a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase. You ask for the refund by email within 7 days, and Chatling says it refunds “in full with no questions asked”.

How much is Chatling a year?

On yearly billing, Starter is $250 a year, Growth $750 and Scale $2,950. That’s $21, $63 and $246 a month, against $25, $75 and $295 billed monthly.

Do unused Chatling credits roll over?
